DeAfrica English Conversational Course

Distance Education for Africa (DeAfrica) is pleased to announce the launch of its weekly English Conversational Course, which commenced on October 30, 2025.

Schedule:

  • Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Time: 9:00 – 10:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time, USA) / 14:00 – 15:00 GMT
  • Platform: Online (via Zoom)

Course Objective:
This program is designed to provide French-, Portuguese-, Italian-, and Spanish-speaking participants in Africa with the opportunity to enhance their English communication skills through guided conversation practice.

The course focuses on improving speaking fluency, pronunciation, and vocabulary development, while encouraging participants to gain greater confidence in using English for both professional and everyday interactions.

With its engaging format and diverse range of discussion topics, the DeAfrica English Conversational Course offers a dynamic environment for language learning and cross-cultural exchange.

About the Course Facilitator

Professor Edward Coyne, PhD (from Georgetown University School of Languages and Linguistics)

Dr. Coyne has hands-on experience teaching English as a second language to adult students in the USA.  He has also conducted research in linguistic theory using AI techniques to generate English text from a semantic base.  He is an experienced software engineer and systems analyst, and an expert/author in information security management.
